ABC’S
We spend a great deal of time working with our young players to develop their Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed. These skills are transferable across all sports and it is essential for young players to work on these both on court and at home.
Technical, Tactical and Mental skills
Even with our very young players it is important to start developing good technical skills including grips, swings, ready positions and movement patterns. Through the use of exercises and drills we also introduce basic tactical awareness and simple hitting patterns appropriate to the player’s abilities. It is also essential to start preparing players mentally for the challenges they will face on court and simple exercises and routines aid in developing these areas.
Players 10 – 18 years
The programmes and classes for our 10-18 year old player’s focus on continued technical development ie stroke mechanics, swing paths and footwork patterns. Greater emphasis at this stage is placed on developing tactical patterns of play and assisting players in developing their own style of play.
Physical conditioning becomes a higher priority as the demands of the game increase and we look to develop strength, speed and agility within our players. Mental training is also incorporated as player start to compete and have to cope with the pressure of competitive situations.
